The CIR Catozzo M3 Special is a professional tape splicer for 35mm motion picture film, designed and manufactured in Italy by C.I.R. srl. It uses the patented Catozzo self-perforating adhesive tape system — the industry standard adopted by film archives, post-production houses, and cinema labs worldwide. Dr. Leo Catozzo received a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1991 for this splicing system. Still in production and sold new for over €1,000.

Condition

Very good used condition. The working mechanism is clean and fully functional — splicing blade, registration pins, tape cutter, and film viewer all operate properly. Hammertone paint finish is in excellent shape with no significant chips or wear. Springs and lever action are firm and responsive. The bottom of the base plate shows surface scuffs and light scratches typical of a professional tool that has seen real work. All rubber feet are present and intact. Note: splicing tape is not included.
